my g wagon has poor doors on it it has 4 holes on the back door (both bottem corner/ under the rear window and right along the top or the door)
rear passenger (drivers side) door has rotted almost half of the door is gone in the inside
and the rear pasenger door is starting to go along with two holes in the rear quarter pannels some small holes under the front window and some on the grill

should i get new doors or try to fix whats there and where would you advise me to go looking if i need new doors?

thanks

Re: poor doors

Although anything’s possible they sound pretty far gone to me.

You see people breaking G’s and selling the bits on ebay. Just need patience. There is also a specialist breaker somewhere in Yorkshire I think. A search of this site will find them.

Good luck, sounds like you’re going to need it :)

Re: poor doors

Dronfields in S Yorkshire and Mercman in Southampton are good for g-wagen parts as are on occasion many of the forum contributors

Re: poor doors

your chassis should be ok though, I have never seen one in poor shape even the very oldest, the question is always how much do you want to spend, every part is available doors, panels etc but you could spend a considerable amount of money achieving the standard you want.

If you are driving on anything like tarmac the shuddering is normal if you locked the diff’s.

Re: poor doors

Most older Gs in poor shape are beyond economic repair. You'd be better off selling her and getting yourself a decent G which go for very little money these days....

Re: poor doors

if you manage to get replacement doors don't forget the Waxoyl, take the
cards off and use as much as you can get in just keep the drain holes clear. I wish my sons showed an interest in working on cars, might be less for me to do. Good luck
