G 5 Convertible roof problem SOS
I have a G 500 Convertible that is now 4 years old. Lately I have the problem that the roof gets stuck on the rear headrest and will not open without manuel help. The position of the headrest has no impact . Got told by Mercedes that the lining of the roof is loose and that I would have to buy a new roof. Does that sound right?????? My other car is a Peugeot 306 Convertible which is now 7 yrs old and I have never ever had any kind of problems with the roof.
Can anybody help?
Conny
Its a double lined roof so perhaps part of the lining is getting pinched when it tries to fold?
But ask Tony Baskill - he would probably be able to give you a better answer as he owned one. Four years does not sound old enough to need a new roof.
Just out of curiosity where abouts in London are you - I have only ever seen three G500 Cabrios in London - one in Henrietta Place (Tony's old one), one near Earl's Court and one in Primrose Hill.
just remember that dealers would rather replace than fix, its easier and much more profitable for them. try a nice independent place for a bit more luck maybe?
Nice looking G - been wanting to stop and take a look but always in a rush. I always wanted a cabrio but just not practical for me at the moment. I'm in Islington.
