Pickup
Anyone done/seen a pickup conversion based on a LWB ?
As a landscaper, I have occasional need for a 2nd veh as a pickup or a trailer, and I have the slightly rusty poverty spec 280GEL Grey Peril here.....
It would be a great excuse not to have to weld her up paint her and sell her, wouldnt it...?
Any further help - spring ugrades etc would be warmly welcomed....
Thanks a lot guys
Wouldn't that be fun??? we could have it on top gear with captain slow....
I could do a weekend maybe, but i've got a que of vans and cars at the mo. i've got to sort out.
They do exist - though quite rare. You could also get a lwb military softtop...
As far as I know, no SWB pickups were factory made. LWBs, however, were made in very modest numbers between 1985 and 1997:
BR Model Typ Fuel Wheelbase Description No
460 229 230GE Petrol 2,850 Pick-up 47
460 343 300GD Diesel 2,850 Pick-up 12
461 249 230GE Petrol 2,850 Pick-up 9
461 341 290GD Diesel 2,850 Pick-up 128
Total 196
you could cut and cap the rear doors, i don't see this too hard, i done it with the rear door of the swb one.

thats an ORC unimog axle conversion on that pick up
I think that that pic is from Sean at Euro Truck and is taken during Military Trials.
in that case it must be the unimog axled G thats available via Mercedes military dept, but it's ORC who pioneered it.
love it , very tidy
Twodogs
whow... thats insane twodogs.... can you really have that size tires on 5,5"R16 rims
