heater valve / control cable connection
At long last we have replaced the leaking heater valve :D
It turns out that a previous owner / garage has been messing in that area so the original valve was not fixed to any mounting point ( new one is now 8) ) and there seems to be a part missing that connects the operating arm on the new valve to the heater control rod that is attached to the dash lever.
Has anyone got a parts diagram of this so I can see if I'm missing a part
anyone know where I might be able to find out this info?
Is this what you're looking for?
# 90 is Bowden cable part no A 463 833 00 30
#100 is Bowden cable part no A 463 833 01 30
Cheers
The valve has an arm which has a small hole towards its end. You have to insert the hook of the cable through it and that should be it.
Perhaps your valve has that arm broken?
I hope i never have to go that deep into my G...horrible workspace there!
Mortinson while you're at it, you have no doubt wondered how those levers are lit, is the cable a fibre-optic one that takes the feed from a bulb somewhere in the back or...just some bulbs in the dash itself?
I'm curious as the centre and lower lever light up on mine, but the top one doesn't!
Same with mine the top light is out the other two work fine, It is the only bulb fault on the whole car and I had given up on trying to find it

It really must be a pain in the neck, 'cause I have had the same problem since I bought the G and still haven't found the solution!
These lights are a relatively easy fix. The is a bulb of each slider and a fibre optic tube connecting the two. The bulb is a 1.2w or similar size and is available from MB. You need to remove the centre consol which is a PITA but is documented well on this site. Follow the fibre optic fron the slider to the bulb ...easy
Hot 66 did you solve your heater problem? How did you change the valve. I gave up befor I started as I could not get a tool to the fixing screws. What did you use.?
Thanks Roly will give that a try, I am taking the carpets out to clean them soon (hydraulic fluid has leaked out of the jack under the drivers seat, nice) so will look for the bulb at the same time while i'm in the mood.
Thanks Roly, I thought someone on here must know how!
And to think our beloved "ancient" cars were using fibre optics for this and gear indicator long before they came into mainstream use for CD players and navigation systems!
