A Message from the Chairman

A Message from the Chairman

The Annual General Meeting of August 2006 saw some changes to the personnel on the committee. Howard Green and Ian Watson resigned as they could not give the time they thought their posts demanded. Mike Lilley, after years of service as Technical Officer was outvoted. The new line-up for 2006/7 is as follows:

Chairman Tim Carnell.
Membership Secretary Tony Baskill
Website Administrator Tim Han
Magazine Editor Nicholas Greene
Events Co-ordinator Stephen Martlew
Technical Representative Rakesh Anand
Scottish Representative Fred Berkmiller
Wales and Borders Representative Richard Wells
Irish Representative Martin Kerr
Northern Representative David Watkins
Midlands Representative Howard Green
Southern Representative Mark Blunden

There are some new faces, and some old ones in different roles.

The move towards limited company status is proceeding apace and should be completed in 2006. Directors of the G-Wagen Owners Association Limited are Howard Green and Mark Blunden. Tim Carnell is Company Secretary.

Changes for 2006/7 should see an increase in the areas of the website available to members only. These will include access to previous issues of club magazines, and also access to club technical documents. Member Tom Clynes is working on the former, and the manuals and so on will be added as time is available. We are trying to increase the number of club events by organising thing which can best be called “Get togethers”. Are reps will be available at a site where all can meet, have a chat, and then proceed somewhere for lunch. This may be followed by a road run, visit to a place of interest (our Scottish Rep has suggested a distillery) or possibly some off roading. They will be publicised in the club magazine and on the website. We hope that by having more events which cost little to run and are easy to organise, we can meet more of you. The services on the website for members will be free, but the events will not include the costs of you lunches, entry fees or bottles of whiskey should you attend the Scottish one.

All in all, the next year looks as if it will be a very exciting one for the club. If you’re reading this and are not a member, how about joining?

Tim Carnell
Club Chairman.

Re: A Message from the Chairman

Tim,
Well done! Finally you have done it, thanks for the introducton, explination, it looks like we will have a very busy year ahead of us! If eveyone of our committee officals just puts in that little bit more effort, time permitting ? Our club members won`t be able to say we don`t organise or don`t do anything! Because i know and am sure we will! The limiting factor for all of us is time! We all have our private lives to lead,a crust to earn, and if we do have that time? Because of our love of the G and our friends we have made over the last 10-15 years things will happen and have happened. More Trips to the factory! for one! even joining one of the German Clubs events , these have always been Fantastic, ask anyone who has joined us in the past!
Keep up the Good Work Guys, i just wish i had more free time to follow one of my passions the G Wagen!
your Ex Chairman David Watkins.
