The question is, if a good friend of yours come to the UK and visit you for 2 weeks... where would you go and visit? GL7 and LE11 are the only 2 places I am familiar with in Britain.

I am based in Gloucestershire, so Scotland might be a little too far for me!

Just for the banter, a few years ago I showed my mum a few local scrap yards and a car auction. Not planning to show my friend that!

Thank you all!

Perhaps some truly amazing country side and some random tourist attraction in the west and midlands. What would you recommend if we were to go to Wales?

that depends on your friends interests really but there are coastal paths to walk, mountains to climb, a fair bit of sailing if that appeals, mountain biking in the Afan Valley. Shopping in Cardiff possibly a sporting event too if the timing is right and tickets available. A drunken night out in Cardiff or Swansea's Wind street is something your friend will always remember. There's the boring Castles that the Normans built which always seems to attract a disproportionate number of German tourists for some reason. The Wye Valley is very pretty and Newport is worth a visit though not for the culture.
Snowdonia is as stunning as any scenery in Britain and the Cardigan Bay is very pretty too, contining south Pembrokeshire has beaches, walks 4x4 trails and the cute town of Tenby

Pok, being a fareiner myself, I get this a lot. I don't mind traveling to go and see a good friend visiting the UK, but usualy it is better if they can come to you. I have a golden rule, and that is to show as little as possible, and rather spend some time with them. So if you go for a drive, drive through the countryside to a castle or a nice pub, etc.

If you try to do to much, you are rushing the whole time and don't get time to relax.

If you come up here I would just take you shooting, but it will be one hell of a drive there!

Thanks Christo! Yes, my friend is coming to stay with me for two weeks... was just thinking that if we only spent time around cirencester then she might well be bored to death (does not apply to me for sure!). But yeah... showing as little as possible is a very good idea; much more relaxed.

By shooting you do mean clay pigeon or real animals ;-) please P.M.!

Thanks Goochi! shall look into that since I haven't been to many of those places myself... perhaps I should skip the shopping bit!

 Cat Lover....

Maybe one can give us a hint to your friends; gender, interests, and if they have an idea of what they want to do, have they been to the UK before and if female are you trying to impress her? (^..^)

Wales is a great place (except for some old gremlin who lives down in the south... :) )North Wales is fantastic, however I would follow what LEEU is posting. PRWALES has also come up with some great ideas as have Goochie and co. However if your planning to do Wales then I would take a few days to do it, as one day trip will really not do it justice!

Near you are; Malvern makes a great day out, as does Bath and Bristol. Good places to eat and nice places to visit, sight see and museums, the night life is also very good. If it is their first trip to Blighty, then a day or two in London is a must!

Give me a call/Skype happy to chat about it!
