HELP !! How do you remove wooden dash around diff lock switch
Hello KInd people, could anyone help me, i am trying to remove my wood trim that is around diff lock switches, one large vertical cut out, six switches in two banks of 3 horizontal, one switch on it's own underneath, i also have 2 holes right & left of the 2 banks of switches, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why do you want to remove it?
The panel is held by 3 screws at the top concealed behind the 30mm timber strip and 2 screws at the base in the radio compartment. Steps below,
Remove the radio and odments tray
Locate and undo the 2 screwson the vertical side area
Remove the steering wheel, ensure you have the wheels straight ahead so you can install back in the same place.
Remove the plastic trim around the steering wheel
Remove the screw holding the end of the 30mm timber strip
Remove the timber strip by levering it of with a plastic tool, it is pushed into place
Locate and remove the 3 screws on the top of the console panel
The panel wont come out very far because of the heater cable.
Be caeful as there are many traps along the way. The timber stips cost plenty if you break them. The diff lock light cables can dislodge themselves and you might not notice. And when you get in there isn't much room to move.
Proceed with caution
As Roly says, proceed with caution, very easy to dislodge Diff Lock warning lights, virtually no free play on heater controls? Not a cheap part to replace! Its possible someone has fitted a replacement panel from a 463 with more options. Sure you can get some extra switches to fill the holes?
Thanks for that sounds quite involved, got to tackle it as wood is missing most of its lacquer/varnish, rest of wood is A1, that bit lets it down, anyway thanks again, David.
