Re: Hand book

Some of the dealers are owned by MB and some are still independant, maybe one is cheaper than the other?

Re: Hand book

I think the GWOA, as a club, should bring this point to M/Benz to point out to them of this discrepancy, and  that, trading standards may have something to say about this practice.

Given the M/Benz shield themselves with heavy duty lawyers; I find it difficult to accept they would not have an air tight contract on pricing practice between Owned and Independent dealers.

If more of you feel the same, make it known on the forum, this could persuade Tim Carnell (sorry, Tim) to put 'pen to paper'.  I think, it high time, that we rattle our sabers and let M/Benz know that, there is a voice out there representing G-Wagen Owners' interests.

Taking aero94's point, we should make complaints that their salesmen are generally ignorant on G-Wagens.

Any other issues the forum would like to add, take up this opening, I cannot guarantee what the outcome would be.

Re: Hand book

When I was looking for a w124 handbook a few years ago my local dealers searched the network for me, getting one from the Isle of Man for considerably less than Milton Keynes wanted, not all dealers are bad, some are very helpful.

Re: Hand book

Hi all

This is one of those strange ones out there in the MB network. There are certain things that the dealers sell that they in theory dont make any money on!!!

There is, as you all know a retail price structure across the network and that should be a starting point and prices should go down in theory!!! MB classify every part into a discount code structure and these range from nothing to quite a good percentage.

MB then sell to the dealers at retail less the discount and the dealers sell out at retail etc and retain a margin.
There are a few anomalies to this which are Special Tools and Literature which are what MB describe as Code 05 parts.

These are sold to the dealer at a Nett price and the dealer in theory sells out at the same price, hence making no margin. Most dealers will stick to this but when times are hard, some will add a margin on top to sell out. Especiallt the PC dealers it seams. It is the old supply and demand process.

However all the retail prices are also only Recommended retail prices and i suppose the dealers could sell anything at a higher price if they wanted, but would probably lose out if they did. The Tool and Books etc are so low volume that they would mostly get away with it anyway.

I had this with another member last year with a special tool and the Nett price was around £105 ish and they had quotes of £125 - £150 from memory.

Hope this clears the matter up some what...

Thanks

Gav

Re: Hand book

Cheers Gav for info  , but still out of order , it is wrong that one dealer charges one figure and another charges a different price  the price on parts should be the same across the network .
