G Hamann 544php asking £149,000 cost £450,000
Hi All,
I hope you are well.
I was braswing the net and found this on sale and it appears to be the only one in the UK! To be unique is has to be RHD in my opinion, is there one in RHD? Here is what the seller has to say;
What is your view?
Thanks
REDUCED FOR A QUICK SALE!!! MERCEDES HAMANN G-WAGON "TYPHOON" V12!!! ONCE IN LIFETIME CHANCE TO OWN SOMETHING SPECIAL & UNIQUE!!! This is a 2012 Mercedes G500 Hamann G-Wagon Typhoon Imported from the middle east!!!

Interesting vehicle, think this was posted in the forum a few months ago and I think something similar was included in the last G Whizz mag. If its a case of buying to keep, then its personal choice, interesting colour scheme to say the least! ![]()
Is it worth the asking price? Unless your a Hamann Fan, I would say no, as you could get a Brand New 63 and still have some change, or special order 65 (V12) and again, I think you would get change, the steering wheel on the correct side (RHD) no worried for the first 3 years of ownership and a more discreet way of getting from A-B.
Though if your about making a statement then I say go for it!

P.s just thinking, if they can reduced the price that much from new in the first place, would it hold its price for another 12 Months? - Just saying...
pimptastic
I dont think its a 2012....might be the year of import.....but a 2012 vehicle would not have " long MOT " as its first is not due to 2015. Plus .......its kin hideous.............
and spider apparently still reckons that his V8 more powerful.![]()
Only when I am in the drivers seat Huss.....![]()

A G Wagon with a V12 engine is a fairly unique vehicle but as Spider said for £150K I would rather have a 2013 rhd G63 than this 2002 Vomitorium.
How does dropping a V12 into a G and wrapping it in black plastic cost £450K![]()
Goppingly awful, would be too embarassed to drive it if someone gave it me.
Actually, I think this is a bargain! £149K for a 2002 reworked, LHD G500. Anyone interested in a GENUINE G500 RHD, 2001, not wrapped, FSH..... Only £100K!!!
You would get better condition mats in the front of mine!
Joking apart, £149K and you could not even park it on the pavement! Mind you at 20MPG for a 5.5 V12, good consumption figures.

I can think of a hundred and forty nine thousand better ways of spending the asking price. Hideous.
It's akin to some of the more hideous body kits fitted in the eighties, why anyone would do that to the simple elegance of a G Wagen and see it as an improvement, definitely a car for a division 2 footballer .........more quids than taste.
can only count 8 rockers per side..4 inlet ports..and this is the same guy that was selling that 86 300gd that looked like a 500 for £50K...nuff said !

So according to the link Harmann modified the ecu of the 5.5l V8 to get more power, there is no mention of fitting a V12. And as Pete said the pic shows a standard V8 engine. Why would a seller show a pic of the engine with the rocker covers removed?
So It's a LHD modified amg55 with some discrete body mods and tasteful interior

Must of been something wrong with the adverts as its GONE
Who reported it ? LOL
great engines in sports cars; plain silly in a g-wagen

Many thanks for your prompt responses. If that was a RHD perhaps it would have been about the right price for the unique 1 of 1 in the UK. I wonder if there any RHD made in Hamann verson of G55 or G500? Perhaps, some may order new one in RHD! Anyway, this G500 modified by Hamann with (V12) engine does sound very powerful as most G55 AMG comes with V8 engine.
