Re: face lift

E-bay germany is going to be your best resource for parts. Most of my conversion parts came from Germany , i have had a quick look for you and found these  .If you search for the following article numbers on e-bay germany ;

#150960839773  Headlight panel

#251096554562  Headlight panel
#380600427429  Rear light units (w463 type)
#330874673234  Grille (black) also do silver @199 Eur
#111029814014   lower headlight panel

Some of these parts are from a company called G&W , they have an ever changing stock so may have the passenger lower panel in stock. I have used them for bit and they are good.

for the clear indicator lens's MBUK are cheaper than anywhere :
Wing top lens A4638260057 @ £13.72 each
side repeaters A4638220020 @ £5.99 each

Bumpers are a real problem as they are rare and so expensive , the end caps alone are £ 250 each from MBUK so there is a grand before you start. I an getting some folded up out of 2.5mm sheet and fabricating the end caps i think , although i did see some rather nice tubular bempers someone had manufactured so i may yet change my mind.

I Hope this is of some use ,

Re: face lift

be ready to dig your pockets ! Much cheaper buying 463 straight away .. Hard to sell when convertion done ... Original car will always hold its value much better.

Plenty parts for sale on e bay germany .

Re: face lift

i was not thinking of doing to much just a bit of a refresh, the arches are a bit rusty so covering them and then painting on the waxoil might be cheeper than replacing them , the wheels are the steel and just look a bit narrow for the car. and i will colour code the grill and lights so not to much money in that.. i noted that a 86 300gl went for almost 10,000, it had been dressed up like a almost new, so they do sell, i saying that he must have spent a fortune on it, but it looked ok

Re: face lift

If you buy the parts carefully and you are doing all the labour yourself , the cost can be reasonable. The days of being able to pick up a 463 for less than 6k seem to be over. As for originality... as long as you are not trying to pass a 230ge off as a G55.......or transplanting a Rover v8 into one.   Some people seem to have a problem with updating the appearance of a 460 and yet the same people will rave about  a 606 engine conversion.... as long as any update is done well   i don't have a problem .
