expensive fun

Had a bit of fun this weekend. Destroyed my front bumper, broke rear bumper, bent left side step, broken exhaust, lost sump guard, towing electrics ripped but looking a lot better than the other guys.

2 rolled cars, LR ripped off front bumper and damaged suspension, a Cruiser had its left front wheel torn out of the shasis, LR both shock torn out and lot and lots of scratches, dents and lost wheel arches.

The most fun I have ever had in a 4x4, and if I can say so myself, nobody there will ever doubt a G's capabilities.

Will I do it again? NEVER!

Any help with bits will be apreciated.

Re: expensive fun

Be interested to know just where you went off roading?

Supplying details of your vehicle could help locate the parts you need and also the part of the country where you are from could be helpful.

Sounds like your course was a rough and tumble one, generally, non destructive do not do the type of damage, your vehicle has suffered.  You can still enjoy off roading in your G-Wagen, just pick the courses appropriately.

Cheers,

My car is a 463 300GD with a 2" ORC heavy duty lift, gas shocks, 325/75 16 Mud's. Live in North Wales, but this was done on a very tame track in Kent, but we just got a bit silly and pushed the limits. You can bend you car on any track if you are stupid, we were very stupid, silly and in high spirits.

I am waiting for them, I was too busy keeping at least 3 wheels on the ground most of the time, so I didn't take any myself.

I must say the spectators loved it, especially when I ripped the 110 winch bumper off. I'll invite you along next time Mr Perfect, but you'll have to bring something tougher than japcr@p.

Re: expensive fun

I know you have mentioned that you won't be off roading again or you won't be off roading as you did in your last manner; my point is if you are likely to be off roading in a similar manner as your last, then you may want to consider having a fabricated front and rear bumper commissioned, other wise the standard ones will suffer the same fate.

The standard ones don't come cheap.

Just providing a different perspective to consider.

Re: expensive fun

I'm a bit worried that if the bumper is stronger something else will bend. Let;s face it, a G pin bumper is no light weight, and to fold it flat takes quite a bump. If I had 6mm steel bumpers, G is 4mm, on the force would have gone straight to my front chasis. I would rather replace my bumpers every 10 years.

Re: expensive fun

I am sorry I do not know of, or have any bumpers for you, but just thought of an alternative, in considering  having repairs done to your bumpers.  I have no idea of costing on this compared to new ones or secondhand.
