Idly web browsing and I came across this site.

Below is a copy of my email enquiry to them.

“Hi Rakesh,
We have been passed your enquiry via the factory in the US. We are Supatracks, the authorized dealer for all Mattracks products in the UK and Ireland.

The W460, 1 & 3 MB chassis will use Series 88 (www.mattracks.com) which have a rated payload of 3990 kg. and these come in 3 different styles, 88 M1, 88 M1 A1 and 88 M1 A1 SA.

88 M1 are fixed frame tracks for use in snow and mud. 16” wide they provide good flotation on soft material.
88 M1 A1 have an oscillating suspension which also provides good traction on rough terrain in addition to the benefits of M1 tracks.

88 M1 A1 SA have all the benefits of the previous models and in addition have the ‘Steering Assist’ feature. This provides reduced steering effort when driving on ‘good’ road surfaces such as tarmac or grass. This is without doubt the optimum solution and provides the best track experience for the driver. The equipment is fully automatic and is driven by the power steering system. We provide all the quick release hoses , valve block and switch gear required as part of the kit.

Prices are:
88 M1 £17500
88 M1 A1 £19250
88 M1 A1 SA £20100
All prices are plus VAT and delivered mainland UK

Shipping is by sea from the US. We can offer transport by air which will add approximately £1000 to the above prices. Availability is 4 weeks ex factory plus sea shipping time estimated as 4-5 weeks (1 week by air).
I attach a series of photos for a variety of vehicles unfortunately not of a G Wagen – yet.

I trust that this is of interest. If there are any queries please let us know.

Any takers?

First thoughts were 'what!!'
But actually, this is seriously good, IF you need it.  Maybe for a Polar expedition.  Don't think even UK winters will warrant it tho.
I like the way they designed the standard wheel fitting to drive the track - simple, until the track seizes and then the track becomes a triangular wheel - I wonder what protection they have for that situation.

Yeah, there is possible nowhere in the UK where you might be needing something like this! Not until the next glaciation!

Re: Could this be on your wish list?

I know of a few sets of Mattracks in use up here in the Highlands although they are all fitted to ATVs.

They appear to be very well made and are around £7k which makes them a bit more affordable than £20k plus vat for a full size 4x4 set.For half that amount you could buy a well presented Haggalund.

I see that the RNLI have 'splashed' out on a set.

Re: Could this be on your wish list?

I’ve seen these and it’s not simply about playing at extreme off road.

If you need (rather than want) to get equipment to remote sites they work. Low ground pressure equals less environmental damage (yes I know beyond the comprehension of some  :-) equals less cost.

Probably easier to just use a tracked machine, JCB fasttrack or Unimog with tyre deflation though.
