auto gearbox needed for G280 1989
Hi all got problem with auto gearbox on 1989 G280 very slow till gearbox warm then reverse works but seems to slip so poss need autobox has anybody got one for sale ? regards stevo

Since there is not much to go on from your request, before condemning the gearbox, has the gearbox oil level been checked?
How long ago was the last filter and oil change to the gearbox? Current market price for re-conditioned boxes are around £1300 plus VAT, plus removal and re-fitting of the box.
My preferred suggestion would be a re-manufactured box from Vege UK, they do not hold stock but will re-manufacture your own box.
A second hand one would be around £700 to £900, who know how long that would last?

Just to confirm Rakeshs advice...maybe drain and refill with fresh fluid ,even a can of treatment may help, if lucky 10%chance of a year or two more !!
Reality is to have YOUR box recon'd...ask locally for advice.on a good shop..easy box to rebuild...do the torque convertor as well....

Not cheap, but will know from discription of your problems to enable a quotation.
Rebuilt a box for our off road competition verhicle 5 years ago, Its had well above a lifetimes agro and is still going strong.

Cheers for replies filter and fluid changed level perfect , no reverse until its been driven a few miles then when to works in reverse it tends to slip but the old fluid was clean with no dark colour in fluid any ideas ?
