Slow operating electric window
I noticed that the passenger's side window is not operating as fast as the driver side one and when it opens the mechanism seems to be labouring. This problem has developed gradually as the passenger's window was opening and closing in a similar manner as that of the driver's. Apart from the possible obvious point that is not used as frequently as the driver's side one, is there anything else I could do, such as for example greasing the mechanism etc? if yes. How does one get access to it ??? is there some special procedure for removing the inner trim of the door etc??

Re: Slow operating electric window
How old and what spec is your G? I tried all sorts of stuff to get mine working, and by the time I had finished it was easier (and cheaper) to replace the window motor. You may like to consider this - unless of course other members may have an idea?

Hi
i also had slow window. Mine was as the window was going up it would slow as if something restricting the travel guide. I got a silicone spray and lubricated the window travel channel and lift mechanism. This solved the problem.
First - With the window down. Lightly spray silicone into the guide track particularly near the top. The seal will absorb the silicone and help reduce friction on the glass.
if no difference, you will need to remove the door panel to access the window lift mechanism. There is a couple of videos on YouTube that give good overview of general procedure.
Good luck

Re: Slow operating electric window
I had one of those- but on the drivers side and it finally ground to a halt. There was only so much silicone spray that I could bung down there! I can't open it now. If I want to talk to someone outside I have to open the door. I am waiting to have some work done on it. Roly wrote a really good article on what you can do to drag a bit more life out of it. I will dig it out and send it to you. It was for G Wizz
Re: Slow operating electric window
Assuming you have a W460; unscrew the door pocket screws, interior door handle and if you have a red sliding rectangular door lock button remove all these.
Carefully lever the door panel with a flat bladed screw driver working all the way around it. If the door has not be previously touched there could be a clear plastic sheeting on the door, carefully remove these. If it peels off fine, otherwise, cut around the edge and re-tape it back on up assembly.
Spray some silicone spray along the felt window channels, grease the vertical support the window guides run along. Finally, spray some penetrating oil on the long worm gear inside the plastic tube at the bottom of the motor.

Hi Spider,
Thanks.
It is a 463 SWB 300 GE. 1992 vintage with nominal mileage (under 90K) on the clock. I'll try spaying some silicone on the glass runners as suggested as a start and see what happens.
