Good find.  I like the promo videos.  A bit odd to compare the G to being a dinosaur!  Strong DNA, yes.

Would there ever be an electric G ?  I doubt it.

A working electric has already being developed by a company; I don't doubt it would not be taken up by Mercdes Benz

If you put a Tesla 'motor' in a G, that would be interesting.

I am looking at the BMW i3 as the shopping car and local stuff.  Seems to be good.  I waited for MB to come out with something and they have no interest it seems.  You get £4.5k grant to buy a new electric and I heard parking is a 10th of the price in London (I don't do London by car as often.  Because of the parking cost more than the traffic).

Anyway - I digress... I found a couple of other interesting G videos.  All easy to find with search, but I will record here in  this thread:

G-Class Evolution (from '79).  I like this summary:

Evolution Video is a great find: G until 2010, Rodeo Drive thereafter.

I also just found this 2016 edition book on the history of the G.

It looks OK.  Not exactly a Haines manual, more of a biography!
