AFAIK, they go forever, pull forever, but are deathly slow and lacking any acceleration.

What's the mpg like? I have read from 12-14 and some have said 28 mpg. I'm thinking of buying a lwb.

Re: 3oogd

22-23mpg seems achieveable. As an average.  So 28mpg if steady.

There are a few model comparisons on the site. like here: 300GDS MPG. | G-Wagen Owners' Association (gwoa.co.uk)

Re: 3oogd

On an absolute scale , they may be "slow", but I found that they can keep up with traffic quite well. A friend of mine, used to a V8 Discovery, was surprised when I drove him around in mine and ended up buying one.

I also drove this SWB soft-top version, hitched to a 2.5 tonne, loaded trailer across europe and over the alps with steep hairpin bends. It made the journey without issues. The OM617 has been dubbed a 'cockcroach' engine: almost impossible to kill.
