I have for sale a very very nice Volvo V50 Deisel on Ebay and Autotrader if any member is after an economical load lugger that has been spoilt with maintainance in the first 3 years of its life..........

Looks nice.  Apart from the fact its up in Doncaster (my problem not yours) and is a manual not auto.
I'd say the reserve is OK but the BIN price is too high.  I was looking at a friends V50, but the bigger engine (2.0L), and lower miles but not so clean/serviced.  If you want to sell it without the bidding hassle, then maybe the BIN under 9k will do it.  But there are 2.0L on Autotrader for under 6k!  Its a tough car market out there.  Also looks like petrol is making a comeback.

I did wonder if it was a bit ambitious!!!

It dosn't really owe me anything as i opted out of a company car scheme and bought it, so i effect work have paid for it. I put £500 deposit on it but i guess thats not bad for 3 1/2 years motoring!!!
I might drop it a grand and see what happens...i have given £9k for the Touran i have bought on a 10 plate with 16K miles on it and i really only need to fund that and any extra is a bonus... i just dont want to give it away. My wifes 307 HDI looks like its worth £2.5K ona 03 plate
so thats held its money well, saying that its a 1.4 so its 60+MPG and £30 to tax and peanuts to insure so will be a good cheap motor for someone as its been looked after like the Volvo.

Hi All

Please give your opinion of this motor, as to its value? or value for money?
Not sure if i have pitched it too high? Any knowledgable people out there?
I need it to go and obviously want as much as i can for it but more importantly i want it to go.
I have bought a VW Touran on a 10 Plate for "her indoors" and have a New Vito Dualiner coming for me
(sadly not a 4x4 due to the car taxation!!! and non understanding sales manager who reckons he wont be able to shift it on?)
and any surplus will go back into the W463 6 Cyl Petrol Buying Fund :-)

Based on Ford's Focus so far better than SAAB or Merc alternatives because they (in the case of Merc, don't rust and SAAB, based on a crap Vauxhall), only reservation is that Volvo spares are very very pricey.

Having over the last 15 years run A Class B Class C Class E Class R Class S Class and SLK's i would agree that the rate that they rust
even from quite a young age is astounding!!!! They reckon they have it all sorted now but we will see. Some of the 5/6 year old Vito's we see coming through are unbelievable with rust scabs all over the doors and the sills have disintegrated, they cant be all down to poor ownership!!!
This Volvo has been bomb proof so far and if i had not been off work for the last 4/5 months would have had closer to 100K on it.
I have driven it this morning for the first time since i have been off and it literally drives like the day i bought it, smooth, no rattles and for a 1.6 deisel although not too hot from stand still it dont half shift once the turbo livens up and the pull in any gear from 30 upto 90 100+ is superb.
I test drove the 2litre and couldn't see the point!!! Cost £1500 more to buy + £1000 for the SE to make it re sellable and other than cruise control it drove no different, i just coudn't feel the extra 26bhp. People are raving about the 1.6 DRIVe models but it is the same engine and to achieve better MPG they have just altered 3/4/5 gear ratios. So if you take it steady in the standard car you can get it into the 60's if you try anyway...as for parts prices i agree they are a bit high but touch wood i havnt needed many and i have found that if you barter with the parts guys they will have a deal and give some good discounts...i think i managed 40% off a set of pads and discs for my brothers old AWD.
... i am off now before i talk myself into keeping it!!!
